All-on-X replaces a whole arch of failing or missing teeth with a fixed bridge on dental
implants. At Imagine Advanced Dental Arts in Lawrenceville, NJ, it is done as teeth in a day:
your remaining teeth are removed, 4 to 6 implants are placed, and fixed temporary teeth
are attached in one appointment, while you are asleep. About six months later, the temporary
teeth are replaced with a final zirconia bridge.
Dr. Maria Rhode
does the surgery and the teeth herself, and has completed about 100 full-arch cases over the
last four years.
Patrick, a college student, lived with constant pain from severe decay. He left our office
with a fixed new smile the same day.

What Is All-on-X?
All-on-X is a full-arch implant bridge: a complete set of upper or lower teeth fixed to
implants in the jaw. It does not come out at night, does not need adhesive, and does not
cover the roof of your mouth the way an upper denture does. The "X" stands for the number
of implants, which is chosen for your case rather than fixed at four.
Dr. Rhode places 4 to 6 implants per arch, and aims for six wherever the bone allows. Four
implants can hold a full-arch bridge, but with six, the case is over-engineered: if one implant is not stable
enough on surgery day, or does not take during healing, the others still carry your fixed
teeth. That margin is what makes teeth in a day dependable. She usually uses Neodent
implants, part of the Straumann Group.
What Happens on Surgery Day
Extractions, implants, and teeth all happen in one appointment. It takes 2 to 4 hours for
one arch and 4 to 6 hours for both.
01
You arrive with your own teeth, failing or not. You are asleep or deeply sedated for the whole procedure, cared for by a board-certified anesthesiologist.
02
Dr. Rhode removes the teeth that cannot be saved and cleans the sockets.
03
Using surgical guides made from your 3D scan, she places 4 to 6 implants in the arch.
04
Your fixed temporary teeth, made by a dental lab before surgery from your scans, are screwed onto the implants.
05
You wake up with a full set of teeth and go home the same day. Plan on a driver.
Anesthesia is always part of All-on-X here. You receive IV sedation or general anesthesia,
given by a visiting board-certified anesthesiologist, so you do not feel the
surgery. Dr. Rhode does not perform the procedure without it. See our
sedation dentistry page for more.
Every Visit, From Consultation to Final Teeth
Visit 1: Consultation
Exam, a review of your health history and medications, and a frank talk about whether fixed All-on-X, a snap-on denture, or something else fits you. You leave knowing the fee and the options.
Visit 2: Records
Once you decide to go ahead, we take a CBCT 3D scan, a digital intraoral scan (3Shape or Straumann scanner), and photos. These are used to design your implant positions, your surgical guides, and your temporary teeth.
Visit 3: Surgery and teeth in a day
Extractions, implant placement, and your fixed temporary teeth, all in one appointment under anesthesia.
Months 2 and 4: Healing checks
Short visits to check healing, the bite, and the temporary bridge. Repairs or part replacements during this time are included.
Month 6: Final zirconia teeth
Once the implants have fused with the bone, we convert you to the final zirconia bridge, with try-ins so you approve the look and bite before it is finished. This takes as few as two visits, or several for more complex cases.
Every year: Maintenance visit
We check the bridge and its screws, balance the bite, and take a CBCT scan to confirm the implants and bone are healthy.
How Much Does All-on-X Cost?
All-on-X at Imagine Advanced Dental Arts is $30,000 to $40,000 for one arch, or
$65,000 to $75,000 for upper and lower. It is one case fee that covers everything from
the first scan to the final teeth:
Consultation and CBCT 3D scan
Digital scans, photos, and treatment planning
Intraoral stents and surgical, osteotomy, and stackable guides
Extraction of all remaining teeth in the arch
4 to 6 implants
IV sedation or general anesthesia by a board-certified anesthesiologist
Fixed PMMA temporary bridge, placed the same day
Every visit during the 6 months of healing, including checks, part replacements, and try-ins
Final zirconia bridge
When you compare quotes, check what each one includes. A lower number often leaves out the
extractions, the anesthesia, the guides, the temporary teeth, or the final zirconia bridge,
and those are added later. Our guide to
what NJ all-inclusive All-on-4 quotes leave out
walks through the line items.
Paying for All-on-X
Interest-free payment plans through our office, over 6, 12, or 24 months.
Dental insurance: if your plan pays toward extractions or implants, we take that amount off the case fee.
Medical insurance is not billed for All-on-X.
Fixed All-on-X or a Snap-On Denture?
If the fixed bridge is more than your budget allows, a snap-on (locator) denture on four
implants is the main alternative. It stays put when you eat and talk, but you take it out to
clean it.

Extractions, anesthesia, scans and guides, temporaries, and every visit
All-on-X is for adults whose teeth in an arch are failing, loose, broken, or already gone, and
for denture wearers who want fixed teeth. There is no upper age limit; Dr. Rhode has treated
patients in their 80s. Thin or shrunken bone is often not a barrier: she rebuilds it in our
office with guided bone regeneration and ridge augmentation
(bone grafting).
She does not place zygomatic implants, so your CBCT scan tells us at the consultation whether
your case can be done here.
When we will not operate
Uncontrolled diabetes
Poorly controlled blood sugar slows healing and raises the risk of infection. We will work with your physician and revisit treatment once it is under control.
Bone-strengthening drugs such as bisphosphonates
These medicines, used for osteoporosis and some cancers, carry a risk of osteonecrosis of the jaw (bone that fails to heal) after oral surgery. Dr. Rhode does not place full-arch implants for patients taking them.
Radiation therapy to the jaw
Radiation reduces the blood supply to the jawbone, which raises the risk of implant failure and of bone that does not heal.
Smokers can be treated, but smoking roughly doubles the risk that an implant
fails, so smokers sign a consent acknowledging that higher risk.
Recovery and Eating
Soreness: about a week.
Time off work: most patients take a couple of days.
Diet: soft foods for the 6 months of healing, until the implants fuse with the bone and the final zirconia teeth are in. The temporary teeth look like teeth but are not built for hard or crunchy food.
After the final teeth: eat anything you want, from bagels and steak to raw carrots and nuts.
Temporary Teeth and Final Zirconia Teeth
Your same-day teeth are made of PMMA, a strong dental acrylic, designed from your scans
before surgery. They carry you through healing and let us fine-tune the look and the bite.
At about six months we make the final bridge in zirconia, a high-strength ceramic. You try
it in before it is finished.
Caring for Your New Teeth
You clean the fixed bridge at home with a toothbrush and a water flosser such as a Waterpik,
which reaches under the bridge where the gums meet the implants. The bridge stays in; only
we remove it, and only if there is a problem. Once a year you come back for an All-on-X
maintenance visit: we check the bridge and its screws, balance the bite, and take a CBCT scan
to verify the implants and bone are healthy. Snap-on dentures come out daily for cleaning.

how to clean full-arch implants the right way.
Our Implant Guarantee
The first six months are when an implant fuses with the bone, and when most failures
happen. If an implant fails in the first 2 years, Dr. Rhode removes it,
grafts the site, and replaces it at no cost to you. After that, a replacement implant is
billed. Because Dr. Rhode adds implants whenever the bone allows, one failed implant usually
does not mean losing your fixed teeth.
Real All-on-X Patients
Two All-on-X patients from our office, before and after. Every photo in our
smile gallery is one of our own patients.
She fell while walking her dog and broke her upper teeth. In one day, Dr. Rhode removed the
failing teeth, placed implants, and secured a fixed bridge.
What the Research Says
Fixed full-arch teeth on immediately loaded implants hold up long term. In a study of 245 patients with full lower arches on four implants, implant success was 94.8% and 99.2% of the bridges survived with up to 10 years of follow-up (Maló et al., JADA 2011). Adding a fifth or sixth implant where the bone allows builds in extra margin.
Smoking and jaw radiation raise the risk of implant failure. A meta-analysis of 51 studies found about 1.9 times the risk for smokers and 2.3 times for patients treated with radiation (Chen et al., PLoS One 2013).
Bone-strengthening drugs can cause osteonecrosis of the jaw after oral surgery. The American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons describes the risk and how to manage it in its 2022 position paper.
Modern bridge materials, zirconia included, perform well. A systematic review of full-arch frameworks made of metal, zirconia, and polymers found high implant and bridge survival in every included study (Delucchi et al., Materials 2021).

Patient Reviews
In our patients' words
Comfort and clear explanations come up again and again.
"I chose Imagine Dental because my former dentist was part of an 'assembly line' practice. I wanted something smaller, more personal. I'm not a fan of going to the dentist but the staff put me at ease and spent time explaining things. I didn't feel rushed out to make room for the next patient. I'm glad I made the switch."

All-on-X Questions Patients Ask Us
+Can I really get teeth in a day?
Yes. At Imagine Advanced Dental Arts your remaining teeth are removed, 4 to 6 implants are placed, and a fixed set of temporary teeth is attached, all in one appointment. You go home the same day with teeth you can smile and talk with.
+What is the difference between All-on-X and All-on-4?
All-on-4 is a protocol that uses four implants per arch. All-on-X means the number of implants is chosen for your case. Dr. Rhode places 4 to 6 per arch, and six where the bone allows, so that if one implant does not take, the others can still carry your fixed teeth.
+How much does All-on-X cost at Imagine Advanced Dental Arts?
The fee is $30,000 to $40,000 for one arch, or $65,000 to $75,000 for both arches. It includes extractions, the CBCT scan and surgical guides, 4 to 6 implants, anesthesia, the same-day temporary teeth, every visit during healing, and the final zirconia bridge.
+Will I be asleep? Will it hurt during the procedure?
You will be under IV sedation or general anesthesia, given by a visiting board-certified anesthesiologist, so you do not feel the surgery. Dr. Rhode does not perform All-on-X without anesthesia.
+How painful is recovery?
Most patients are sore for about a week, and most take only a couple of days off work. We send you home with written instructions, and we are a phone call away.
+How many visits does All-on-X take?
Three visits get you to teeth in a day: a consultation, a records visit for scans, and the surgery. After that come short checks at about 2 and 4 months, the switch to final zirconia teeth at about 6 months (two visits for simpler cases, several for complex ones), and a yearly maintenance visit.
+How long until I get my final teeth?
About 6 months. The implants need that time to fuse with the bone. You wear the fixed temporary teeth until then, and then we make the final zirconia bridge.
+What can I eat after surgery?
A soft diet for the 6 months of healing, until the implants have fused and the final zirconia teeth are in. Think eggs, fish, pasta, soft vegetables, and nothing hard, crunchy, or very chewy. After the final zirconia teeth are in, you can eat anything you want: bagels, raw carrots, nuts, steak.
+Do you offer financing for All-on-X?
Yes. Imagine Advanced Dental Arts offers interest-free, in-office payment plans over 6, 12, or 24 months for All-on-X. If your dental insurance pays for extractions or implants, that amount is taken off the case fee.
+Does insurance cover All-on-X?
Not in full. All-on-X is a case fee, and we do not bill medical insurance. If your dental plan pays toward extractions or implants, we apply whatever it allows to your fee.
+What if an implant fails?
If an implant fails in the first 2 years, Dr. Rhode removes it, grafts the site, and replaces it at no cost to you. Because she places extra implants whenever the bone allows, a single failed implant usually does not cost you your fixed teeth.
+Am I too old for All-on-X?
There is no upper age limit. Dr. Rhode has treated patients in their 80s. Your health and medications matter far more than your age.
+Can smokers get All-on-X?
Yes, but smoking roughly doubles the risk of implant failure, so smokers are asked to sign a consent acknowledging that higher risk. Quitting, even for the healing months, improves the odds.
+What if I do not have enough bone?
Dr. Rhode rebuilds bone in our office with guided bone regeneration and ridge augmentation. She does not place zygomatic implants, so the CBCT scan at your consultation tells us whether your case can be done here.
+Is there a cheaper option than fixed All-on-X?
Yes. A snap-on (locator) denture on four implants is $20,000 to $25,000 per arch with the same inclusions. You remove it to clean it, and it needs a second, smaller surgery about 6 months after the first to uncover the implants.
+Can the bridge be taken out?
The fixed bridge stays in. Only the dentist removes it, if there is ever a problem. You clean around it at home with a brush and a water flosser, and we check it every year.
A zirconia crown is a smart pick for back teeth that chew hard ; for visible front teeth, translucent or layered zirconia, or a glassier ceramic like e.max, usually blends in better.
Monolithic zirconia, milled as one solid piece, rarely chips. Layered zirconia does, because its chewing surface is fired porcelain over the zirconia core. Ask which one you are getting.
A dentist Lawrenceville search misleads New Jersey patients twice: it mixes Mercer County offices with Georgia ones, and its listings lead with gentle-care promises that say little about who treats you long term.
